Legendary Dutch girl group Luv’ was formed in 1978, masterminded by Hans Van Hemert and Piet Souer, and fronted by singers Marga Scheide, Patty Brard and José Hoebee. They went on to achieve enormous success with hits like U.O.Me, You’re The Greatest Lover and Trojan Horse. Hugely popular in their home country, they also enjoyed chart success in countries such as Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Denmark and Mexico. They remain one of the best-loved pop acts The Netherlands has ever produced.
On May 24th, Only Luv’ – The Matt Pop Remixes will be released; a unique remix album that brings together their biggest hits, lesser known album tracks, and fan favourites, carefully curated by Matt Pop with the project’s producer/coordinator Peter Boonstra.
With full access to the original multitrack master tapes, made available by Hans van Hemert and Universal Music, Matt Pop was able to blend the original vocals and instruments with more modern sounds and beats, creating updated versions of the songs that seem both familiar and brand-new. From ballads to bangers, with even a few Spanish-sung tracks thrown in for good measure, Only Luv’ has something for everyone!
The album is presented in stunning new artwork, and will be available in three different formats. The 18-track CD comes with a 20-page booklet, featuring never before seen photos and written contributions from Matt Pop, Peter Boonstra and José Hoebee. The 17 track 2-disc vinyl edition will be available in pink or blue – your choice! – and contains 12 extended remixes that are not available on the CD.
Prior to the album, two digital singles will be released on various streaming platforms in May.
The album release will be celebrated during an exclusive release party at the Wisseloord Studio’s in Hilversum, The Netherlands, where Luv’ singers Marga Scheide and José Hoebee, as well as producer Matt Pop and initiator Peter Boonstra will be present.
