Matt Pop’s Safety Dance Bootleg mix gets official thumbs up
Ivan, the singer of Men Without Hats, said on their Facebook page that he approves of the Matt Pop bootleg mix of their biggest hit, The Safety Dance! The mix is now getting shared like crazy on the Internet. So thank you Ivan! https://www.facebook.com/menwithouthats
Erasure competition on Matt Pop Facebook page!
This week, the final tracklisting of Erasure‘s upcoming Christmas album “Snow Globe” was announced (my absolute favourite title: “Blood On The Snow”!). The album features no Matt Pop production, not a single one. Go figure!! To amend this, I have made an unofficial club mix of Andy and Vince‘s Yuletide classic She Won’t Be Home, which is already hiding on YouTube, unseen to the general public. Before the video is published properly in a few weeks time, I want to give 10 Erasure fans the chance to see it first. So, after my ABBA competition, which yielded twenty winners in about 3,8 seconds, I have thought long and hard about a better question; the kind you can’t Google; the kind you have to be a proper fan to know the answer to. And I think I got it: between two numbers on the DVD of Erasure‘s amazing 1992 live show The Tank, The Swan And The Balloon, Andy Bell sings a few lines a capella from a song by a Dutch band. What is the name of that song? Send your answer IN A PRIVATE MESSAGE on the official Matt Pop Facebook page (answers posted as comments on the page will NOT be counted!) and the first ten correct answers will receive the secret YouTube link. Good luck! https://facebook.com/mattpopofficial
Releases update
Just confirmed: a new Matt Pop mix for Pierre Pascual, the third after Matt‘s mixes of Deneuve Danse and Je Danse Dans Ma Chambre. Details will follow closer to the release date. Other mixes coming out this year include Crazy Beautiful for Peter Wilson , released October 18, three Paul Parker mixes that will be released on Almighty Records in October, and ofcourse the Matt Pop mixes of Imagine by Cilla Black. The latter was scheduled for inclusion on a 50th Anniversary Best Of Cilla Black collection, but the record company are working on some last minute changes to the album, and there isn’t an official new release date set yet. Hazell Dean’s next single will be the mighty We Belong, the Pat Benatar cover included on Hazell‘s current hit album In The Name Of… The single release will feature a full old fashioned High Energy style Matt Pop Club Mix! Lastly, still floating around in release limbo are the Matt Pop mixes (and indeed any mixes) of the now infamous RuPaul – La Toya Jackson duet I Feel Like Dancing. My gut tells me they are waiting to come out with that track with a big bang, so fingers crossed 🙂
